🎆 New Year's Resolution Template

Most resolutions are gone by February because they never get a first step. Write up to 5, say why each matters, and give each one a milestone for January. Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

0 of 0 resolutions have a first milestone. Fewer resolutions, each with a real first step, beat a long list.

To keep them going past February, open GoalTracker, use the upload icon in the header and pick the .json file. Each resolution becomes a goal with its January milestone and a mid-year check-in.

How to write resolutions you keep past February

Choose two or three resolutions, not ten. Each one competes for the same evenings and weekends, so a short list gets more of your attention. Word each one so you could tell whether you kept it: "run a 10k in under an hour" rather than "get fit".

The why is for the week in February when the novelty wears off. Write the real reason, even if it sounds small. The January milestone turns a year-long promise into something due in a few weeks. Make it small enough that finishing it feels likely.

Nothing is saved on this page, so print it or download it before you close the tab. Pin the printout somewhere you'll see it.

This page is for several resolutions across one year. For one goal over 90 days, use the quarterly goal planner; for lifetime, unscheduled dreams, the bucket list template (stuck for ideas? see 100 bucket list ideas). Also useful: SMART goal generator, 30-day habit tracker, SMART goals guide.
