What is GoalTracker Online?

GoalTracker Online is a systematic goal management application designed to help users break down large objectives into actionable sub-goals, track daily progress, and build consistent habits using visual streak calendars.

Do I need an account?

No. GoalTracker Online has no sign-up, login or account. Open the page and add a goal; it is saved in this browser's local storage. Because there is no account, your goals do not sync between devices: use Export to download a JSON backup and Import to load it in another browser or on another device.

How do I set a SMART goal?

To set a SMART goal, make it Specific (clear), Measurable (trackable), Achievable (realistic), Relevant (matters to you), and Time-bound (has a deadline). GoalTracker helps you map these out into daily actionable steps.

Does GoalTracker work offline?

Partly. GoalTracker Online is a web page with no offline mode, so opening it needs an internet connection. Once the page has loaded, adding goals and ticking them off does not need a server, but a part that has not loaded yet, such as the notes editor, may not open without a connection. It is built local-first: your goals, subgoals and streak data are stored in your browser's local storage and are not sent anywhere. The site also uses privacy-friendly page-view analytics (Umami) that does not include your goal content.

How does streak tracking improve productivity?

Streak tracking improves productivity by leveraging the psychological 'Don't break the chain' method. Visualizing a continuous streak of completed tasks provides intrinsic motivation and reinforces daily habit formation.

How do I measure progress on a goal?

Pick the method that matches the shape of the goal. For a goal with steps, divide the steps finished by the total: 2 of 5 is 40%. For a number, use (now - start) / (target - start): going from $400 to $3,000 with $1,440 saved is 40%. For a daily habit, count days done out of days planned. GoalTracker Online uses the first method: each goal's progress bar is its completed subgoals divided by its total subgoals.
