SMART Goal Generator
Answer five short prompts, get a SMART goal statement. Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound — see the full SMART goals guide for the framework itself.
Specific
What exactly do you want to accomplish?
Measurable
How will you know it's done, or track progress?
Achievable
What do you have (time, skills, resources) that makes this realistic?
Relevant
Why does this matter to you right now?
Time-bound
By when will this be done?
To track it, open GoalTracker, press Restore at the top of the tracker and pick the .json file — or break it into steps first with the goal planner.
How the SMART goal generator works
Only the Specific box and the date are required. As soon as both are filled in, the tool writes your goal as one sentence, starting "By [date], I will…", and adds a sentence for each other box you answered: how you will measure it, why it is realistic, and why it matters now.
A useful check: if a friend read the statement, could they tell on the target date whether you made it? If not, tighten the Measurable answer. Nothing is saved on this page, so copy or download the statement before you close the tab.
SMART goal FAQ
What does SMART stand for?
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. A SMART goal answers what you will do, how you will know it worked, and by when.
What does a vague goal look like as a SMART goal?
Vague: "Get fitter." SMART: "Run 5 km without stopping by 31 January by running three times a week, adding 5 minutes each week." The second one has a measure, a date and a plan.
How does the generator work?
Answer the prompts (only the Specific box and the date are required) and it assembles one goal sentence you can copy or download.
Is it free, and is my goal saved?
It is free, with no account. This page does not save what you type, so copy it or download it (Markdown or a GoalTracker file) before you leave.
How do I track the goal afterwards?
Download the GoalTracker file (.json), open GoalTracker, press Restore at the top of the tracker and pick the file. Then add milestones in the tracker.
